Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks was founded in Winfield, Alabama in 2002 by Glenn Dodd, a former NASA engineer and Winfield native. The business is named after Glenn’s late father, Dean Dodd [shown in picture above.]
Glenn and his wife Lavonda learned the fireworks business while serving as youth pastors in Huntsville, Alabama. Their youth group sold fireworks for 5 summers to raise money for missions work. As a result of this experience – and the Dodd’s commitment to helping people buy the best fireworks at the best prices – Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks was born.
The original Winfield store is now located INSIDE of North Alabama’s largest fireworks Super Center which is located at exit 30 on I-22 in Winfield. The 6,000 sq ft Super Center is operated by members of Glenn’s family including sister Kim, brother-in-law Terry, niece Brittany and nephews Clayton and Bradley.
In 2004, the business began expansion across North Alabama. You can now find Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks locations in Northport, Brookwood, Winfield, Decatur/Priceville, Rainsville, Guntersville, Boaz, Gadsden, Hueytown and McCalla. Each location is operated either by family or partner churches and we work hard to bring the best fireworks at the best prices to our customers.
